Wood pellets and pellet boilers offer great convenience to the homeowner. The fuel is already dried and typically comes in easy-to-handle 40 pound plastic bags. Pellet boilers have a large fuel hopper that allows the boiler to operate with much less tending than a wood boiler. Typically, you will have to add pellets to the hopper every two or three days. As with firewood, for best pricing and availability, you should secure your fuel supply well in advance of the heating season.
